Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to build a website?

For standard requests, expect 1-4 weeks depending on complexity. For example, an Essential website (like the one you’re on right now) should take 1 week or less.

What do I need to provide before we start?

It’s helpful to have all digital assets ready e.g. logos, branding, images, videos, etc. ready in a filesharing platform e.g. Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. We will discuss content, design, and other features during our initial call.

How much will it cost?

For development, I will try to stick as closely to the guidelines on the Pricing page as possible. However, you will also need to pay for all other website related costs e.g. software subscriptions (if necessary), hosting, domain fees, etc.

Typical costs for domain and hosting might range from $10/month for WordPress + shared hosting up to $100+/month for the highest tier all-in-one solutions like Squarespace

Will I own the website once it is completed?

Of course.

Before I handoff all the credentials, we will go through all the common website maintenance tasks and I will show you how to handle them. Ideally you will also be able to manage the entire website yourself.

I do offer some website maintenance services but I honestly would prefer to not spend my time on this.

What platforms can we use?

I can use anything you want but I strongly recommend you choose a platform that is simply and user-friendly like Squarespace. These will cost ~ $50+/month but will save you a lot of time and headache in the future.

If you prefer we can use something more hands-on like WordPress + custom hosting but it will mean more time spent on upkeep.

If you really insist we can go old-school HTML + CSS + JavaScript but I think this is too difficult to maintain for most businesses.

Will my website show up on Google?

It will, since we will use SEO best practices to build the website. However, SEO is not a magic switch for becoming the number 1 search result and unless you want to spend a significant amount of time and resources on website optimization, content, and marketing I don’t think this is a realistic goal.
